Delete your SCIFText account

SCIFText is an Android app by David Reed. You can delete your account and its data at any time, with or without the app.

In the app

Open SCIFText → Forwarding tab → under Logged in as, tap Delete account and confirm.

Without the app

Enter the email address you sign in with. We email that address a one-time link (valid for 30 minutes). Open it and confirm, and the account is deleted right away.

What gets deleted

• Your account: sign-in email, password hash, and any Google sign-in link.
• Your forwarding email addresses and their verification status.
• Your personal SCIFText address (sms-…@sciftext.com). Mail sent to it afterwards is dropped.
• Each phone's registration: its device ID, model name and push (Firebase) token.
• All sign-in sessions, password-reset and deletion links.
• Short-lived operational records tied to your phones: duplicate-check fingerprints, rate-limit counters, and one-way reply guards.
• Your plan, monthly forward counts, and the total size of message text and pictures sent.
• Lines in the reply-processing log that mention your phones.

The server never stores the content of your messages, so there is no message archive to delete. Emails already delivered to your own inboxes stay there; delete them in your mail app if you want them gone. The app's on-phone message log is cleared when you delete the account in the app (or uninstall it).

What may remain for a short time

• Server backups made before an update may still contain your account row (no message content) until they are removed.
• App names, package names, and notification channel ids used to write filters. They are not tied to an account, and a row is removed about 180 days after that channel was last seen.
• Security logs (for example a rejected request's IP address) roll over on their own.

A gifted Plus or Pro plan ends when the account is deleted. SCIFText does not sell plans in the app yet. Deleting the account does not cancel a Google Play subscription; if one is added later, cancel it in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
