SCIFText

For leaders

SCIFText isn’t a way for people to be lazy and text at work. The phone still stays outside. It lets your people see when something actually needs them and lets them deal with it quickly without leaving their desk.

If someone on your team uses it, this page is the short version of why it helps them and why it helps you. Security questions are answered on the security managers page.

It isn’t about texting at work

Nobody needs another way to chat all day. SCIFText is for the few messages that matter: the school calling, a doctor’s office, a spouse with a quick question, a missed call from the daycare, the alarm at home, a delivery that needs an answer. On most days that is a handful of emails, not a conversation.

The phone stays outside. The messages show up as ordinary email in an inbox the person is already allowed to use.

Fewer trips to the lobby or the car

In a phone-free workplace, the only way to check a phone is to leave. Walk out, badge out, check the phone, often find nothing, badge back in, and try to pick the work back up. A few times a day, for every person on the team, that adds up.

With SCIFText they can glance at their inbox, see that nothing needs them, and keep working. When something does, a short email reply goes out as a text from their own number. A two-minute email beats a twenty-minute round trip.

Peace of mind is a productivity tool

People who feel cut off don’t stop worrying. They worry quietly for 8 to 12 hours. Did the babysitter call? Did the test results come back? Did the repair guy show up? That background worry costs focus.

Knowing that anything important will land in their inbox lets them set it down and concentrate on the job. The shift stops feeling like disappearing into a hole for the day.

Family emergencies reach them sooner

When something really goes wrong at home, the text is in their inbox within moments of reaching the phone. They don’t find out at the end of the shift. You hear about it sooner too, and can plan around it instead of being caught off guard.

SCIFText is not an emergency alert service. Keep your normal emergency contact procedures; this just means fewer messages get stuck on a phone in a locker.

Morale and keeping good people

Being unreachable all day is one of the real costs of phone-free work, especially for parents and caregivers. A way to stay in touch that fits your rules is a small thing that makes the job easier to live with, and easier to stay in.

It stays inside the rules

Your call

If it sounds like a fit for your team, talk with your security manager and point them to sciftext.com/security. If it doesn’t fit your rules, that’s the answer. Either way, the goal is the same as yours: your people stay focused on the mission, and they never have to wonder if they've missed something that matters.
